I am incredibly grateful for having been part of a television show that changed the lives of so many people. ABC has decided to cancel the series, but I believe the spirit of what we have done across the country for over 200 families will continue to inspire. It has been an honor to work side by side with the EMHE families, builders, and thousands of volunteers who have proven that good hearts can and do change the world.

Thank you to every single soul who has ever had a hand and a heart in making the dreams of so many come true, including my own. And special thanks to our talented design team, the show producers, and the indestructible production crew. We've had an amazing journey together. ABC had the courage to try something new and stick with it for 9 seasons and we are forever changed by the experience. Finally, a huge thank you to the fans. You are loyal and enthusiastic and we draw so much energy from your commitment to our work. You are the reason for our success. We are not gone-we'll continue to do EMHE specials and I will always look for ways I can help people improve their lives.

I will be working with the volunteers at the Knoxville build and I am so looking forward to working with the entire crew with EMHE. I am sad to see the show going off the air, especially with the effect this show has had on so many families in need. The specials will be just that, special. Not as many families will have the opportunity to receive such an incredible blessing, but EMHE will still be able to touch the lives of many. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

I'm also a Knoxville volunteer.  I'm distressed that ABC chose to end this program. I had applied for my neighbor who lost his home to Katrina in 2005 and in 2011 his next home to a fire.  Then he sustained a broken ankle so he can't work, which means Habitat for Humanity won't help him.   EMHE gave many people hope, and it's distressing to see it going away because we're not out of the recession enough and the hope it gave was so important.  I wish it could be brought back.

FROM THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Dear cast and crew of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Love is patient, Love is kind, Love does not insist on its own way. Love bears all things, believes all things, Hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." and you showed us the reality of this. We never imagine or expected that something so amazing like this that you have been doing by all this years and for many families, will have to end. As we heard many times in the program "this is a life changing thing", and all of our lives will never be the same again after this show. You touched our hearts, you changed our lives, you inspired us to be much better persons, you showed us real hope and you started up again a flame in our minds, bodies and souls. As it says on Psalms 33:5 "The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord." So cast, the legacy is with us and now is our turn to continue changing many other lives in our countries and worldwide. We are totally sure that if each one of us does something for others, we will be able to bring Love, Peace and Hope to billions. So we’ll do our part for the Glory of the Lord and for the expansion of His Kingdom, in Christ. You gave us an amazing lesson that all is possible if you can believe as the bible says and if we do it together, so we thank you very much for this amazing 9 seasons, 200 episodes and many lives that have been changed including ours down here in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Our parents, our nieces, the church and thousands of people of this country have been following you for years, learning how practical and real love can be expressed to those in need. As Christians we can do more and we will do more. It is very difficult for us to choose between episodes because each episode had something new, important and special that impacted us. We can not say that there was one better than the other. All of them touched us in an incomparable way. So we ask you: ¿Why this has to end? ¡Please don’t do it! ¡please continue if it is possible! But, if it is not possible, we have to say with tears coming from our eyes: Goodbye. 3 John 2: "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” And finally for you, for ABC, for the families that were touched, for the readers, the followers, the volunteers, the donors, the sponsors, for all America and all the people that are reading this lines the blessing of Numbers 6:24-26: “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” We desire with all of our hearts that the Lord continues to use you and bless you for the rest of your lives. With so much Love and respect, in Christ: Hugo & Tania Matos
