Tomorrow will by my 20th wedding anniversary and if he could give me one thing it would be to sing the song Sharing the Night Together by Dr. Hook!

Guys, I just want to let you know that Valentine’s Day is next week- Tuesday, the 14th. This means that you’re going to need to do something romantic or thoughtful for the lady in your life. It doesn’t need to be expensive or grand, but it’s smart to show her that you’re aware of the holiday and you think she’s special. More than anything you should probably tell her how you feel about her, since that’s the main point of this holiday.
And since I’m looking out for you I thought I’d share a list of five things she probably doesn’t want for Valentine’s Day this year. Ladies, weigh in in the comments below- I want to know what you think of this list.
1. A gym membership
Trust me, what you think is considerate, she’ll read as insulting. This is more of a calories-in (wine, chocolate, etc.) than calories-burned type of holiday.
2. A 2 Carat Cup
I know that a good joke can go a long way- but this probably isn’t the right time for pranks. This gift starts with a jewelry box presentation of a sparkling ring, and then reveals a porcelain mug attached. Funny… but not what she wants. Go for real jewelry or something handmade instead.
3. Any household appliance
She may say she really wants that new vacuum but you’re better off communicating your love with more romantic things like flowers, handwritten notes, a nice homemade dinner, or breakfast in bed. The vacuum can wait.
4. A self-serving gift
You probably think you’re pretty sly giving your gal tickets to that Lakers game you really want to see, but I’m telling you- women can see right through this. They have some sort of sixth sense for self-serving gifts…
5. Nothing
While the gifts above aren’t going to win you any points, showing up with nothing on Valentine’s Day will definitely lose you points. Even if it’s a simple card and a single flower you picked on the way in, don’t come empty-handed. She’ll appreciate the effort and even though the holiday can be cliche, thoughtful gestures go a long way.
Ladies, what would you like to receive this Valentine’s Day? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
