Three years ago I learned a very valuable lesson in Cornwall, England: beware of geese.
Even hurts to watch, doesn’t it?

Hope you’re all having a good week. I’m back with another Ty Vision post- consider it your backstage pass to my life lately.
Now that spring has sprung I’ve got sunshine on the mind.
Small changes can make a big difference, especially when it comes to a dirty diaper.

A couple of behind-the-scenes shots in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Tim and I with guest host Toni Braxton- cool lady.
We were all so excited to meet one of our most inspirational guests, Cody McCasland. He really is a cool kid! Check out his website: www.teamcody.com.
Backstage muscle.
Sushi, anyone?
Had a great time with the VERY funny Annie Potts.
I tried to help this lovely lady with her NY Times crossword puzzle when I was out performing random acts of kindness. She wasn’t buying it….

Over the weekend I headed down to D.C. for the D.C. Capital Home and Garden Show. It was very cool to walk the floor and talk to folks who really believe in their products. I also got to meet some special people along the way. Here’s my photo journal from the weekend.
Arriving in DC. I didn't get off on the beltway so I knew I was on the right track…
I love the smell of banana in the morning...
Met with the Washington Home Show team for a pre-show pep talk…
Everyone needs to take some time to smell the...tulips?
It was very special to meet Caitlin Smith with the Kids Wish Network. Caitlin graduates from high school this year and told me she was a big EMHE fan, which I was honored to hear.
Also got to meet Caitlin’s family and present her with a gift from my friends at Sears.
Hanging with team Handyman…
Taking a little break…
Talking shop with Todd Davis from Room Crashers at the Marketplace Events VIP event.
Got to meet CJ Waters, an awesome young fan from Canada!
D.C. is such a beautiful town at night.
By the way, I strolled by the White House to check on my butterfly houses, but almost got plowed over by a gang of tourists on segways!
Did you make it out to the DC Home Show last week? What did you think?

Rehearsing at The Revolution
Aside from adjusting to city living, there’s been a lot going on behind-the-scenes of The Revolution. Here’s a glimpse:
The hallway backstage of “The Revolution” is like being in a dorm room. Well it does smell better. A lot better.
Backstage a lot goes in to preparing for a segment. As you can see we really work out together.
Walking around the city I found one fat cat.
Having fun with Sabrina Soto in Soho. Say that three times fast!
While in Jersey filming, I found myself in a very stable environment.
I even made some new friends.
But this didn’t turn out to be the best idea…

Joyce and Donna from Westminster Fibers came by the set of “The Revolution” to show me the samples from the mill, talk design and watch a taping of our show.
And I also got a visit on set from some of my favorite fans- Carla, Valenti and Leslie.
That’s a wrap for Ty Vision this week. Check back next week for more pix and let me know what you think about this Ty Vision blog series in the comments below.

Being on the road pretty much non-stop for the last 11 years has given me the opportunity to meet some incredible people, see some incredible things and, at times, become incredibly homesick. Journaling turned into lyric writing, turned into wandering the halls of miscellaneous hotels, motels and Holiday Inns singing this little tune. Thanks to Rob, Chaz and Jason for their help putting this video together. So, sit back and enjoy the worldwide premiere of "The Road." By the way, the details for my upcoming stadium concert tour are still a little fuzzy!

Video: My Christmas Song for You
Best of 2011
Leaving Joplin
2011: what a year. So much has happened – there were marriage proposals, elephants, and even an octopus. We stood together and we shared the warmth. We started new projects and were thankful for old ones. It’s been such a great year getting to know the TyPennington.com community – so I want to celebrate by spotlighting the most popular posts from 2011. Drumroll please – the top ten are:
10. Ty Vision: On The Road
Great picture of the view of Oregon- and there were more amazing pictures from the road in Iowa and New York. Nice views, good food, and we even answered the age-old boxers or briefs question…
9. The Small Stuff: The Scent of Cinnamon
We took at look at the comforting smell of cinnamon and discovered new ways to let it shine.
8. Meet the Rucker Family
We met the Rucker family and discovered the importance of sisterhood and star power. We even got a visit from some Georgia royalty.
7. Meet the Gomez Family
We went to Utah to meet the Gomez family and played some soccer with a brave little boy battling a rare blood disorder.
6. Bringing Joplin Home
After a lot of hard work, obstacles and emotion, we got ready to reveal homes to Joplin families.
5. Remembering 9/11
After ten years, we paid our respects by remembering this tragedy and highlighting some heroes.
4. Get Inspired: Creative Pumpkins
We saw some pretty crazy carved creations.
3. Greatest Job of My Life
As we got ready to turn a new page, I remembered how meaningful this ride has been.
2. Leaving Joplin
We said goodbye to a town whose tremendous optimism in the face of devastation was nothing short of inspiring.
1. Hilarious Halloween Costumes
And through it all, we had a lot of laughs – especially when it came to some pretty clever costumes.

Some of my favorite Christmas moments happen when perfectly planned things go horribly wrong because usually, you end up laughing.
Well, I have to tell you, working with 200 Santas and Mrs. Clauses can really inspire a person. I was so inspired that I wrote a little Christmas song about one of those holiday moments gone hilariously wrong. This song is titled "A Gift I Really Didn't Want to Receive” -enjoy and happy holidays.
Have you ever caught Santa in a compromising position?
